Yamaha’s series of two-way active monitors are designed for use in production studios, post-production suites, recording studios and anywhere where a critical monitoring of stereo or surround formats is required. The SW10 Studio subwoofer is available to provide extended low frequency response.
This is a a compact, 2-way active monitor suitable for small music production studios and post-production suites. It comprises a 100mm driver and a 22mm dome tweeter driven by an internal 20 watt amplifier. The cabinet is a bass reflex design, and is internally magnetically shielded to minimise interaction with video monitors. Two line inputs are provided on the rear panel; balanced with +4dBu sensitivity on both an XLR connector and a 6.35mm 3-pole jack socket, and unbalanced at -10dBu on a phono (RCA) socket. The power switch is also at the rear; the mains cable is captive. The front panel has level controls for each input, +/- 3dB HF and LF EQ trim controls at 10kHz and 100Hz respectively and a green power LED. The MSP3 may be used free-standing, or mounted on the wall or ceiling with an optional bracket. A further option is to use the BMS-10A mic stand adaptor, which permits the speaker to be mounted on a standard microphone stand.

This is a bi-amped, 2-way active monitor for use in project studios, mastering and post-production. It can be used with the SW10 Studio subwoofer unit in applications that require an extended LF response. The monitor has a 125mm LF driver driven by a 40 watt amplifier plus a 25mm titanium dome tweeter driven by a 27 watt amplifier, with a crossover frequency of 2.5kHz. The cabinet is a bass reflex design, and is magnetically shielded to minimise interaction with video monitors. The HF driver incorporates a wave-guide horn to achieve a dispersion angle of greater than 120 degrees. Balanced +4dBu and unbalanced -10dBu inputs are provided on the rear panel on an XLR and a 6.35mm jack socket respectively, and two slide-switches adjust the LF (-3/+1.5dB at 60Hz) and HF (+/-1.5dB at 15kHz) response. The power switch and IEC mains connector are also at the rear. The front panel has a detented level control and a bi-colour LED to indicate normal operation (green) and the onset of clipping (flashes red).

The top of the Yamaha MSP Studio range, this is a bi-amped, 2-way active monitor for professional broadcast, music or post-production environments. While compatible with the SW10 Studio subwoofer, it gives excellent stand-alone performance in situations where an extended LF response is not required. A switchable low-cut filter removes the LF content when used with the subwoofer. It has a 165mm LF driver powered by an 80 watt amplifier plus a 25mm titanium dome tweeter driven by a 50 watt amplifier, with a crossover frequency of 2.5kHz. The cabinet is a bass reflex design, and is magnetically shielded to minimise interaction with video monitors. The HF driver incorporates a wave-guide horn to achieve a dispersion angle of greater than 120 degrees. The rear panel has a balanced XLR line input at +4dBu and detented level control. There are also two slide-switches trimming the LF (-3/+1.5dB at 45Hz) and HF (+/-1.5dB at 15kHz) response, plus a switch for the 12dB/oct low-cut filter (either 100Hz or 80Hz). The power switch and IEC mains connector are also at the rear. The front panel has a bi-colour LED to indicate normal operation (green) and the onset of clipping (flashes red).

SW10 STUDIO Subwoofer
The SW10 Studio is an active sub-bass speaker (subwoofer) designed primarily for use with the MSP5 Studio and MSP7 Studio monitors, although it will perform well with any full-range monitors possessing broadly similar characteristics. It extends the LF response of the monitoring system down to 25Hz. It consists of a 250mm cone driver with a 180 watt amplifier, in a magnetically-shielded bass reflex cabinet. HF filtering and stereo summing are built-in, so no additional external electronics are necessary. All controls and connectivity are on the rear of the unit. Left and Right stereo inputs have loop-through outputs to simplify studio cabling, and there is also a dedicated subwoofer input, also with a loop-through. All inputs are balanced on XLRs. There are recessed, centre-detented preset controls for level and HF filter frequency (40 to 120Hz), plus a phase-reverse switch. The AC input is on an IEC connector, with a rocker switch for power on/off. The front panel has a bi-colour LED which shows green in normal operation and flashes red at the onset of clipping.
